Thinkware F200 Pro Review

Best Solid Dash Cam

Typical of all Thinkware products, the F200 Pro stood out in my test for its sleek, lightweight design and great features. It has a 2.0-megapixel camera that records in 1080p at 30 frames per second, giving clear video both day and night. Hardwiring it unlocks extra features usually found in expensive dash cams, but at a much lower price. If you just need a high-performance dash cam for driving protection, the plug-and-play setup is easy to use right away. The F200 Pro impressed as a solid choice among all the dash cams I evaluated.

To activate the parking modes and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), you’ll need hardwiring (included in the 2-channel option) and a separate purchase for the GPS module. While the F200 Pro is on the pricier side, it offers quality in return.

Lightweight

The Thinkware F200 Pro boasts a super-slim profile and lightweight design, making it easy to install discreetly behind the rearview mirror. Its dimensions (98.8L x 21.5D x 36Wmm) and weight (54g) contribute to its unobtrusive presence. Thinkware Performance:

Excellence at entry-level

The Thinkware F200 Pro delivers clear and detailed footage day and night, effectively handling various lighting conditions. Its Super Night Vision technology reduces glare and enhances visibility in low-light situations. The 1080p video quality, though not 4K, is highly detailed, meeting the needs of most users. With parking mode and time-lapse recording for added security once hardwired, it offers excellent value as an entry-level dash cam.

User Friendly Interface:

Ease of Use

Setting up the Thinkware F200 Pro is straightforward if you’re going down the plug-and-play route, otherwise I recommend a professional installation for optimal performance. The Wi-Fi connectivity simplifies accessing and managing recordings via Thinkware’s ‘Dash Cam Link’ app, available for both iOS and Android devices. The lack of a built-in display is mitigated by the app’s functionality, providing live view and video transfer capabilities.

Test findings

In summary, the Thinkware F200 Pro emerges as a top contender in the dash cam market, boasting an impressive array of features tailored to meet the needs of modern drivers. Its full HD resolution, coupled with a wide 140-degree viewing angle, ensures highly detailed and comprehensive coverage of the road ahead, day or night.

The F200 Pro’s sleek and slim profile offers a discreet presence behind the rearview mirror, blending seamlessly into any vehicle interior. Its supercapacitor ensures reliable performance in extreme temperatures, enhancing its durability and longevity. Plus, the inclusion of parking surveillance mode and time-lapse recording adds an extra layer of security and functionality, particularly for parked vehicles.

While the optional GPS functionality may require an additional investment and professional installation, the flexibility to customize the dash cam setup according to individual preferences sets it apart. However, it’s worth noting that without the GPS antenna, certain driver assistance features, such as speed camera alerts and collision warnings, are unavailable.

Despite its lack of 4K UHD resolution and cloud compatibility, the Thinkware F200 Pro remains an excellent choice for drivers seeking a reliable and feature-rich dash cam solution. Its blend of quality construction, advanced technology, and user-friendly design makes it a worthy investment for enhancing both safety and convenience on the road.
